Tribalism in this presidential election may be at an all-time high. Issues are largely irrelevant, by design, I might add. Using this graphic prepared by the Green Party, let’s talk about issues:
Now, I know Jill Stein isn’t going to win. Even if she did, we know she can’t wave a wand and “make it so.” Still, at least the Green Party stands for something.
This time around, the master narrative is something like this: Trump must be stopped because he’s a fascist dictator. Kamala must be stopped because she’s a Marxist woke nightmare. End of story.
When you approach the Blue and Red Teams and ask about climate change, Pentagon spending, genocide in Gaza, student and medical debt, campaign finance reform, etc., you essentially get nothing. NOTHING. It’s “Trump bad” or “Kamala bad,” so vote against one or the other, but don’t “waste” your vote on a third party.
If you truly want change, as America needs, your vote is most certainly a waste if it’s Red or Blue.
Speaking of genocide in Gaza, in the ultimate cynical act, the Biden/Harris administration conveniently set a deadline of 30 days for Israel to allow and restore humanitarian aid for Palestinians else Israel risks an arms embargo. This pushes the issue beyond the election on November 5th while suggesting that Biden/Harris are willing to stand up to Israel. What a joke!
Palestinians are suffering, starving, and dying and Biden/Harris give Israel another 30 days to continue killing and starving, after which I guarantee you no action will be taken by the Biden/Harris administration whether Harris wins or loses.
A policy this cynical reflects the utter moral bankruptcy of Biden/Harris on the issue of Gaza and mass murder. But, hey, Trump must be stopped because he’s a bad man, amirite?
So sad
So true
PS
I'm voting the Jill/Ware ticket. I'm voting my conscience and the direction we should be going in.
What amazes me is that even Common Dreams has had few articles (if any) exposing Jill Stein's way out of our neoliberal-neocon quagmire. Bernie was late in coming to the "stop sending Israel bombs" messaging. Nader and Stein have been saying that all along. Common Dreams reports on Bernie who is not in the running and has not endorsed a presidential candidate like Stein who would carry the social democratic torch.
