Very Timely video, Bill! Kudos for finding and posting it.

It's dangerous for all of us, the current crop of US leaders and decision makers, don't have the Courage, Sanity and Wisdom of President Kennedy, who resisted the Pentagon Brass and others advising him to launch a 1st Strike on the Soviets in Cuba in 1962.

After the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis was defused, Kennedy, KNOWING how close the World came to Nuclear War, uttered the essential TRUTH in 1963 that can keep us alive TODAY:

“Above all, while defending our own vital interests, nuclear powers must avert those confrontations which bring an adversary to a choice of either a humiliating retreat or a nuclear war. To adopt that kind of course in the nuclear age would be evidence only of the bankruptcy of our policy–or of a collective death-wish for the world.”

Saying that got Kennedy killed, at the same Time being a subtle warning to others not to challenge the Status Quo or else.

The Doomsday Machine is a good read. As far as upgrading the nuclear arsenal is concerned, it is more big business US style. The morons in charge actually know that they can't wage a nuclear war, but making the weapons is not about war, it is about revenue. The original weapons still sit there unused after 60 years or more, and the new ones will sit around not being used either. It is going to entail a lot more radioactive pollution, a lot more government waste, fraud and abuse, and a lot more profits for a small number of people. The public gets nothing out of this other than a larger, more wasteful tax bill.

"A new consciousness is developing which sees the earth as a single organism and recognizes that an organism at war with itself is doomed." We are one planet. One of the great revelations of the age of space exploration is the image of the earth finite and lonely, somehow vulnerable, bearing the entire species through the oceans of space and time. See "Earthrise" Apollo 8 December 24th. 1968 some 56 yrs. ago now. To the Politicians I'd also like to say see that you sons of a bitches just like Edgar Mitchell-- maybe just maybe they'd develop a global consciousness. A people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world as is. On our moon international politics is so petty. We also don't need, or want to weaponize space... "Saganist"

Allegedly Senator Mike Lee of Utah would like to cut Social Security, and Medicare in order to increase Defense Spending... How is this Rational?... As stated elsewhere the Armed Services can't meet recruiting Goals, and the USA's Military is over-stretched... As evidenced by the War in Ukraine, War has become Asymetrical, and rewards Creativity, not Mass...

I hadn't read that, but I'm not surprised. It does seem to be the way of all the "liberal democracies". The motto seems to be 'we have to destroy the society in order to save it.'

As posted to BV yesterday:

THE ‘EMPIRE KILLER’ STRIKES AGAIN by Nick Giambruno / International Man 26 Nov 24 [Extracts]

One of the most potent and underappreciated forces responsible for the downfall of the most powerful empires throughout history has been debt.

While military defeats, political upheavals, and external invasions often dominate historical accounts of the fall of great powers, excessive debt—the “Empire Killer”—has quietly but relentlessly eroded the foundations of empires across the centuries.

From Rome to the Soviet Union, the over-extension of resources, poor financial management, and the inability to service massive debts have led to economic collapse, social unrest, and, ultimately, the demise of these once-mighty empires.

Understanding how debt has played a role in the fall of these empires gives us insight into the role it could play in the collapse of the US Empire.

*** Following a summary of some prominent historical examples of this clear pattern ~ The Roman, Spanish, and British Empires, The French Monarchy and The Qing Dynasty of China, Giambruno concludes with:

HOW DEBT DESTROYS EMPIRES: A FAMILIAR PATTERN

The typical pattern in these examples of collapsing empires (and numerous others I didn’t have time to mention) is:

Stage #1: Empires achieve success and become overconfident.

Stage #2: Overconfidence leads to extravagant spending on luxuries and wars.

Stage #3: Empires finance this lavish spending by going into debt.

Stage #4: The debt grows to an unsustainable level and creates a crushing burden.

Stage #5: Empires finance the debt through taxation and currency debasement.

Stage #6: The populace bears the brunt of debt repayment as empires raise taxes and debase the currency—to the maximum extent—until it causes internal instability.

Stage #7: Empires cannot finance their militaries because of their debt burden. This is usually the tipping point.

Stage #8: Underfunded militaries plus internal instability make empires vulnerable to foreign invasion, domestic revolution, civil war, and other existential dangers.

Stage #9: The empire collapses.

THE US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS THE BIGGEST DEBT IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. AND IT’S CONTINUING TO GROW AT A RAPID, UNSTOPPABLE PACE.

While the US government can extend the charade of solvency longer than any other entity on the planet, not even the most powerful empires in human history can do so forever, particularly when they start to struggle to pay the interest costs.

THE SITUATION HAS REACHED A TIPPING POINT.

THAT’S BECAUSE THE FEDERAL DEBT’S ANNUALIZED INTEREST COST EXCEEDED THE DEFENSE BUDGET FOR THE FIRST TIME EARLIER THIS YEAR.

It’s on track to exceed Social Security and become the BIGGEST item in the federal budget.

As a result, THE US EMPIRE IS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN STAGE #6 AND #7 IN THE EMPIRE COLLAPSE PATTERN I DESCRIBED ABOVE.

Thanks JG... Long Lived Empires such as the Roman kept expanding by seizing the Riches of Conquered Lands until they could not expand anymore... Scotland had no Riches, and the Persians stopped the Romans... I like your Missive... As Niel Ferguson stated about 20years ago, "Empires Die Broke"... The last major engagements that the USA in this Century so far were in Afghanistan , and Iraq.. During which we wore out our B1Bs bombing Reg-Tag Militias with no Air Force... Not Smart... That is just one example...

I am of an age that empowers me to confirm as an eyewitness that yes, the US Air Force Strategic Air Command used the slogan "Peace is our profession" during the "Classic Years" of the "Cold War." As depicted in Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove..." as mentioned here recently. Oldies but goodies! Doomsday Device, anyone? Triggered by a computer program. What could possibly go wrong?

Fireman1110's avatar

Greg: I was a SAC Trained Killah from 73-77 Buck Sgt. N.C.O. In my penal servitude as a Base Sky-Cop, Air Police now called Security Forces "We" provided for security of both the Bomber & Missile Wings, Aerospace Weapon Systems. It was interesting to say the least. Offut AFB in Nebraska was SAC Hdqtrs. Only place "higher" was Heaven itself! "Peace is/ was our Profession" I even had imprinted on my Stationary! I was ate up with it to say the least...lol To experience a Full Rolling Klaxton & Take-off B-52 & KC-135's. was a thunderous thing to behold. Mems. to last a lifetime. Anyway saw my share of Permanent Majors & Busted slick sleeve NCO's. who tried to buck the system. You went along, & got along, or were Rif'd out if you didn't continue to make Grade. To forgive was not SAC Policy. As a Major Command it was something else. Yes, see Dr. Strangelove!!

I imagine some incompetents with "connections" were "kicked upstairs"? Nice reward, but those on the inside would know the reason for the reassignment. For a lifer, what else was there but to seek to move up in pay grade, kissing as many derrieres of "superiors" as required? Despite my attitude toward US Military, I admit I had some very good times indeed during my own involuntary servitude.

Fireman1110's avatar

After my 4 years were up I punched out never wanted to be a "Lifer" they were always trying to court me back, and when I became a Professional Firefighter/ Medic. they wanted me in a Aeromedical Squadron out of Westover AFB Massachusetts w/ Flying Status to boot on DC9 Nightingales, but I could no longer work for that Corporation even in the AF-Reserves...

… and Trump if JUST the right guy to have in the White House at this point in history. Not too risky, nope….

jg moebus's avatar

i'm curious, Pat.

If it were entirely up to You, who would You have in the White House starting tomorrow?

jg moebus's avatar

Ike's unavailable due to a prior commitment.

What about any Living person?

ps: And are You familiar with what the US did in Vietnam under Eisenhower from 1954 ~ when the French were defeated ~ and 1960, and Kennedy's election?

Starting with America's refusal to comply with the Geneva Accords that ended what the Vietnamese term "The French War"? Thus laying the foundation for what they call "The American War."

Kathleen McCroskey's avatar

Yes, thank you, and the US "unofficially" offered the French two atomic bombs to finish off their war. What with our failing education system over the past 60 years, I can't think of anyone qualified for the job presently. However, a system which allows someone like Herr Drumpf to even be a candidate has no place on this planet, let alone the USA.

jg moebus's avatar

What about a system that allows Biden, Harris, Obama, Cheney/Bush II, Clinton, and Bush I/Reagan to be President, Kathleen? Let alone candidates?

How were any of those folks any different from Trump?

Kathleen McCroskey's avatar

Exactly! All these people are taking up the social space which real govt should occupy, and which could run as a utility, like your electric utility. Imagine every 4 years a new ideologue comes to power and switches you to DC, or 50Hz or whatever. And the flip every four years to a different govt offers no continuity, no prevention of the undoing of previous social progress. In other words, it is fake governance, blocking any pathway to improvement. Same with the recent “fall” of the French govt. And what real change is there? Like Marx said, the political parties are like links of sausage, passing through the parliament, different link, same sausage. Unfortunately, the whole system has been baked like this, built for the other govt structure which actually DOES endure: Big Business. You don't get a vote in that system, and the system you get to vote for is a (sick) joke.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Because they screwed up so badly on this last one, not to mention all the ones before it, I have a feeling it won't work again. I remember so well that "we are all gonna die" from ebola and then from Zika and now from avian flu and wasn't there a swine virus thrown into the mix at one point that I don't even remember anymore. Most of the world, I suspect, has caught on by now, except for the handful of people I still see wearing masks and who are probably vaccinated to the max.

jg moebus's avatar

That's one scenario, for sure.

Another scenario is this one kills Young and Healthy People, and not just Old and Sick ones, like the last one.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

It's really, really hard for a contagious microbe to kill people who are healthy. It's why I think we're all better off taking care of our immune systems which are smarter after millions of years of evolution than any recently developed pharmaceutical that has side effects. As bad as things were during the Black Plague, some people survived. And the death toll from that disease was no doubt easier to spread because of poor hygiene, no sewage, food shortages and other environmental issues that work against human health. If you haven't read "Dissolving Illusions" by Suzanne Humphries, I recommend it. She and her co-author show conclusively that it was clean water, clean air, good food, sewage, and good hygiene practices led to huge decreases in contagious diseases. Vaccines were not what led to those decreases.

Bill Astore's avatar

Good points, but vaccines are important too. Consider polio, for example.

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

Actually, polio is one of the best examples of a vaccine whose development was not necessary. Not only does Suzanne Humphries show that the vaccine never did what it claimed to do, but Forrest Maready in his book, Moth in the Iron Lung: A Biography of Polio, shows that there is actually no such thing as a polio virus. It turns out that the cause of polio is toxins in the environment. The first outbreak of polio in the U.S. was in a town in Massachusetts that was caused, not by a virus, but a toxin called Paris Green (contains both lead and mercury if I remember correctly). Paris Green was not only used to color wallpaper (a popular shade of green at the time) but was then used to kill a moth infestation in orchards. I know we've all been told that it was Jonas Salk and his polio vaccine that ended polio in the U.S. but once again we've been mislead about that disease's true causes. Both books are extremely well-documented. FWIW, Bret Weinstein of The Darkhorse Podcast, had an extensive conversation with Maready about 2 years ago on the subject of vaccines, and in particular polio. Whether vaccines are a miracle of modern medicine or not was never anything that interested me until I did my due diligence and began looking into how vaccines work and the substances they contain. RFK, Jr.'s work has also informed me.

jg moebus's avatar

What about Human-made and/or genetically-modified microbes? Think they can kill healthy people?

Mary Ann Caton's avatar

I suppose that would depend on the sort that of virus it was, plus I think it’s difficult to predict the future and be accurate about it. What I do know is that your body knows the difference between self and non-self. The epithelial cells are key to your body’s understanding of an invader. In addition, of the probable millions and maybe even billions of viruses out there, only a handful of them can make us sick. And most of them will cause symptoms of illness as your body marshals its resources to kill them. Plus there are numbers of repurposed drugs like ivermectin that work well against viruses. I don’t think it’s possible to answer your question, at the end of the day which is why we need to end Gain of Function research. Honestly, I’m more worried about nuclear war than I am about Peter Hotez’s insane claims.

THIS is the ticking TIME BOMB!

American Politicians and Public ignore! Federal Debt Is UP 236% Since Obama/Biden Were Sworn-in In 2009, Federal Spending Is UP 121% (Unfunded Liabilities [Promises] Now At $221 Trillion) And don’t forget the $221 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities (promises) that Congress had made to get elected. That will eventually become Federal debt.

Trump has more $Billionaires in his Cabinet than any other Cabinet in US History. $Billionaires Musk & $Ramaswamy have the job under Trump of cutting $2,000,000,000,000 from the US Budget. Will They or the Poor and Middle Class feel the pain more?

(Ari Melber, Joy Reid and Chris Hayes had segments on precisely that issue Tonight, so thank you Bill, for encouraging me to keep plugging away)

People dismiss it out of hand, but the TRIBULATION is on it's way, and this in the Revelation of Jesus Christ, may be part of our near term Future?

"And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain" That's verse 10 in Revelation 16.

Describing the beast as a kingdom, means it's happening in a Country here ON EARTH. Is it co-incidence or a SIGN, the Limousine of the US President is called "the beast?" It goes with him wherever he travels in THIS World, Domestic and Foreign.

What leads to ARMAGEDDON, aka the great day of the Battle of Almighty God, and shaping up between Theocratic Israel and Theocratic Iran in the Middle East TODAY with US complicity, is described in Revelation 16:13-16.

The Kansas City Times, September 13, 1976, 'PROPHET CHOOSES PARK FOR VIGIL'

https://rayjc.com/2013/09/01/signs-of-the-times/

MORE ON 'the beast'

Trump's threat to place 100% tariffs on the BRICK Nations over the US Dollar brings into view other descriptions of "the beast" in Revelation 13:

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power to the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? who is able to make war with him? And he does great wonders, so that he makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, (NUKES?)

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, (MONEY TALKS) and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast (US DOLLAR) should be killed. And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (MONEY is NEEDED to buy or sell anything)

That's what I get out of reading the Revelation of Jesus Christ and my personal reference Bible was printed in 1855.

The video jg recommends watching below really goes beyond Human comprehension that such threats to Humanity exist over the PRIDE OF POWER.

For those who might have missed this post in an earlier article, this is a MUST SEE video, 'The Most Realistic Global Nuclear “First Strike” Simulation Ever Made' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xthzy1PxTA

The video simulation depicts the macro scale of NUCLEAR WAR affecting this whole Material World, killing most of Humanity. The 1983 TV movie THE DAY AFTER Kansas City was incinerated in a Nuclear Holocaust also depicts absolute Human Insanity that will unleash the Horrors of HELL on us all.

There is an old saying, 'If the shoe fits, wear it!' Or the glove in the case of OJ Simpson.

This ancient 2600 year old Biblical prophesy/vision fits like the shoe and glove in OUR Generations, if the Nuclear Clock reaches Midnight because of the small MINORITY of POWERFUL decision makers.

For, behold, the LORD will come with FIRE, and with his chariots like a whirlwind,

to render his anger with FURY, and his rebuke with flames of FIRE.

For by FIRE and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

That Biblical vision, now that it can be seen hovering as a near term Future possibility, is the WARNING so we wake up from a deep sleep and speak up before THE DAY AFTER which will be TOO LATE!

Hello All! Maybe someone of you are more knowledgeable than me.

My memory is Daniel E. also interviewed probably pilots, sub and silo commanders to see what they would decide to do if during tense times all communications was lost.

Would they just wait? Or would they take action thinking that probably the nuclear war had started and they were cut off?

I think many of these folks said that they would probably go ahead and drop or launch the nukes.

Did he find this or am I dreaming?? Peace! Buzz Davis, member Vets for Peace in Tucson

Many years ago there was an interesting interview with the local defense chief who was bragging about the bomb shelters built in West Virginia that would protect the residents of DC in the event of a nuclear attack. When asked how long it would take to evacuate DC, he replied, "about 8 days". When asked how much warning the people would have, he replied, "about 20 minutes".

Just about enough time to kiss your ass goodbye.
