Bill,

You mention the movie "The Day After" as showing a possible scenario of life after a nuclear war. I might also suggest the movie "On the Beach", filmed in 1959 as a good image of what life would be like after a nuclear war. It would be totally appropriate to bring those movies back to the theaters today because Americans have completely lost all senses of what nuclear war really means.

I would also recommend resurrecting some of the old documentaries on the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, like "White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki" to rejuvenate our awareness of the consequences of nuclear war. While showing what they did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, It should be pointed out that all that destruction was the result of using two (one for each city) 20 kiloton warheads whereas our present inventory includes mostly multiple megaton warheads
