A good story with an important lesson. No one, not even those who think themselves at or near the top of a power pyramid, would not benefit from reading or hearing it again.

Point taken.

Regarding boxing, I think we have made progress in the decline of boxing as a popular "sport", as much an obsession as gridiron fever is today. Remember Rod Serling's Requiem for a Heavyweight? A powerful movie. Good riddance to bullfighting, cockfighting, dogfighting, bear baiting and all similar violent forms of amusement. I'm hoping soccer, the original football, will one day eclipse "American" football.

My uncle was in the CCC but my attempts to find out where he worked haven't yielded any results.

DECLINE OF EMPIRE: PARALLELS BETWEEN THE U.S. AND ROME, Part I and 2 of tbd by Doug Casey 011123

There are good reasons for looking to Rome rather than any other civilization when trying to see where the U.S. is headed. Everyone knows Rome declined, but few people understand why. And, I think, even fewer realize that the U.S. is now well along the same path for pretty much the same reasons, which I’ll explore shortly.

Heh. “Don't Get Too Big For Your Britches” sounds exactly like what America’s Ruling Political Class ~ thru its politicians, bureaucrats, anointed appointees, pundits, and other propagandists ~ what America’s RPC has been telling any Americans who might even be thinking about protesting [let alone actually, actively, effectively resisting] America’s Forever War and its MICC since first 9/11, then Saddam’s “WMDs,” and now for Cold War II in Ukraine and soon East Asia.

Especially don't pick a fight with a nuclear power.
