Forget about MAGA! In both cases, Gaza and Yemen, it's all about MIGA (Make Israel Great Again)

That seems to be Trump's true goal.

Trump is bought and paid for too -- just like Congress.

Trump supporters are going to have to admit that his claims of being the "peace President" were just more blather spewing from his pie hole. But you can't single Trump out since every president in my lifetime has done the same thing. Biden killed far more people in his 4 years than Trump did in his first 4 years. I am convinced that presidents are all told that only war will keep people onboard, and unfortunately, it seems to work. As long as voters keep voting for the Red and Blue Teams, there will be endless wars, since both Teams are on the same page when it comes to war.

I truly wonder if presidents are told--or they tacitly know or learn--that the only way they'll stay president and remain alive is if they embrace war, especially war in support of Zionism.

We haven't had a serious peace candidate since McGovern in 1972. That's a long drought--and it's only going to get longer as I've heard the corporate Dems think Rahm Emanuel might be their best candidate for 2028.

I remember the McGovern campaign well. It didn't go well. Too many people in the US don't think that the wars we wage are immoral, despite the obvious evidence that they are in the extreme. I usually note that the billionaires are in charge and our foreign policy is directed by them, but there is also the problem that too many in the US public have lost their moral compass. I am not sure how you fix that. The billionaire-owned news are never going to clue anyone in, and most people don't search out alternative news sources.

A mild-mannered legal scholar named Obama enthusiastically embraced the (dubious) authority vested in him as POTUS to order assassination of anyone, anywhere at any time in the name of US's "national security." I have no doubt that when a newly elected POTUS is ushered into a room stuffed with generals and admirals sporting their "fruit salad"-festooned uniforms, and intel "spooks" with very serious expressions on their mugs, to get the Big Lecture about "National Security," they quickly "get with the program," to dredge up a popular phrase from my own years in uniform.

I think they're told. Quietly, of course. Remember that JFK only survived six weeks after he chose to defy the military and de-escalate in Vietnam.

Bill, by "serious" peace candidate you must mean someone who was deemed to actually have a (slight!) chance of being elected. Dennis Kucinich, IMO, is far more serious to pursue peace on Earth, but of course he had/has zero chance of winning his party's nomination. Ever!

I agree. That's why I keep pushing the idea of giving people a voice that has nothing to with teams but just reflects their opinion at any time on any given subject.

Not a popular idea. But I still think it ought to be done. Here's my well worn blurb:

DON'T WRITE TO CONGRESS

https://abrogard.com/blog/2023/12/25/dont-write-to-congress/

This is still not the way because it still belongs to govt. not the people and is still used only every few years - but it shows it could be done right NOW

and a little more in depth to it all :

The problem with all of these "good ideas" is that neither you nor I, nor the rest of us who read Bill's blog have the authority to implement them. Only the elected officials have the authority to change the laws to implement reformist ideas. And since those "good ideas" are a direct threat to the careers of the elected officials, they are unlikely even consider them.

The only way that reform will ever happen in this country is if the citizens throw out the incumbent politicians.

NO. The problem is people such as yourself misreading the way you misread and coming to the conclusions you come to. That's the problem.

There is nothing in that 'good idea' that needs any politicians to implement. Read it again, if you ever did.

That, in fact, is the point of it. Just about the whole point. That the people have the power now, for the taking.

Throwing out incumbent politicians is pointless. I don't know what logic you are following. And then replace them with 'better' ? How 'better' ?

Or don't replace them? i.e. change the whole political framework of the country.

All of that is really covered somewhere in the text that comes with the 'good idea', I won't go over it again.

A couple of weeks after 9/11,

after i had confessed to my Wife

that i was certain of only three things ~

that i loved her,

that i was a mad man,

and that i was a dead man ~

that she pulled out

our dog-eared copy of 1984

and repeated what 6079 Smith W

had realized upon reading

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH…..

“…He knew,” she’d read, “better than before that he was not mad.

Being in a minority, even a minority of one, did not make you mad.

There was Truth and there was UnTruth, and if you clung to the Truth

even against the whole world, you were not mad.”

Dead, perhaps. But at least not mad.

At least not yet.

Great post, thanks! As per 1984, world was divided into 3 camps, two of which were always at war. Somehow, the labor of producing weapons is counted as meaningful productivity for the advancement of society. It's like if building then tearing down your house over and over counted toward GDP. How can one reconcile war with this supposedly being a civilization?

While it's understandable to focus on a Presidential administration, the reality is the corporate pro-war national security state, primarily directed by neocons and Zionists, continues unabated from administration to administration. That a war criminal like Netanyahu can address the US Congress and be given multiple standing ovations says one all needs to know.

Trump's assault on free speech and the Judicial branch of government is a frightening new low. And one, I fear, that will not be retracted whenever the next Democrat plods into the Oval Office. Executive power continues to expand no matter who is President.

And while some may say it would have been better with Harris, there is no evidence to support that. It was the Biden administration that pushed and supported the war in Ukraine; it was the Biden administration that stood by as Israel murdered tens to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

And in the recent Politico article it was stated Biden's direction to Harris during the recent campaign was to protect his legacy. That would have been the likely mantra during her administration, as it would have been filled with Biden holdovers (as was true of her campaign staff).

The next Democrat if not out being hunted with dogs, will have to fight their way, not plod, into the Offal office.

And Biden didn’t stand by as Netanyahu killed the Gazans, he was the quartermaster.

Briefly: I believe I have mentioned this previously, but it's highly relevant to repeat. I cannot recommend too enthusiastically the British film version of "1984," starring John Hurt and Sir Richard Burton!!! (Final film role for the latter, and Mr. Hurt is now deceased as well.) The production was filmed in the exact timeframe of setting of the novel, during 1984, and released that very year.

Bring this regime to an end NOW...before it ends us as a Democracy, as a rule of law society, as a nation of respect for the earth and all spp. within.

Isreal as presently governed is a nation needing erasure or it will erase us. Genocide of the peoples of the middle east for the objective of white Jewish supremecy is madness.

Its madness for genocide requires nothing less than regime change Now.

Both the USA and Isreal are leading us down a path to fascist rule.

I love these "precision bombs" - like the Mk 82 500 lb bomb that, according to General Dynamics (the bomb's manufacturer) has a lethal area of about 2,400 square meters. Dropped in a market place where the crowd density can be as much as 2 people in a 10 square meter area, you can kill up to 480 people with a single bomb. And the Mk 82 is the smallest of the series. How precise can you get?

I feared for the Gazans from the first day I saw them walking back into those ruins. Making a tender, juicy target of themselves. How could the Israelis resist?

And Trump - who twice now has sold us a bill of goods - you may note has not reduced the Defence budget in America by one cent. But what 'Defence' does America need? Who, exactly, is attacking America?

The truth is that unfortunately no one is. But we all should be for America is attacking all of us.

Trump promotes entirely the American mindset: 'making America great is not a question of increasing the worth, merit, value of america, it is a question of smashing everyone else down beneath america's level.

And that applies globally. Globally. No one on the globe is permitted to rise in any way whatever lest that rise threatens what america sees as its supremacy.

Where actually it has supremacy in what?

Its economic structure is apparently totally ruinous, on the verge of utter collapse.

Its political system is an outrage.

Its industry we're told, has gone.

Its moral fibre is non existent.

Its education, we're told, is down in level and going further down.

Its military cannot find recruits.

Its military is without weapons.

It has nothing but 'legacy' power. Or 'lingering customary threat' power. The kind that kept people seeing the emperor as clothed when he had no clothes.

Because of this legacy power satrapies cower and obey.

Because of the cowering and obeying america is able to fly around the world and send bombs and guns and topple regimes and murder millions. Without ever sending a soldier of their own.

Poor backwards corruption ridden KIev Ukrainians fight for america a fight that America could not maintained for six months by itself. Weapons go to Ukraine 'in disguise', 'protected' as 'civilian' transport. Let it be america at war and all such transport interdicted immediately.

350 million people isolated from the world in the middle of two great oceans, with no morals, no industry, no governance, no future, no nothing. Fat lunatic monsters habituated to bullying.

Find another 350 million people in the world as useless as that? You can't.

They are as Israel wishes to be. The israelis, living in the Stone Age, make no bones about it: we will destroy, utterly annihilate, so that the fear of Israel will last through generations and none will have the courage to attack us. My paraphrase. Expressed more lucidly by Netanyahu himself.

israel and america. look at it. their paradigm. i'm not one for that kind of language but by god if ever there was an anti-christ, there it is.
