I'm glad you wrote this Bill, and I wish you had done it sooner. This so-called vaccine has done an enormous amount of harm, and even now in some states medical workers are required to have the boosters in order to keep their jobs. This is punitive in the extreme, especially when we know that the mrna is dangerous for a lot of people. Another point that I note no one has made here is that genuine vaccines take at least a year or usually more to be developed because they need to be tested for side effects which NONE of the covid was, hence millions of people are sick or dead as a result. This was obvious from day one - the fact that the testing for side effects needed to be done before it could be used. Yet I'm not aware of any doctor or medical scientist or agency pointing out to the public the very simple fact that all medicine needs to be tested for side effects before it is allowed to be used - especially when the use is going to be used world wide for the entire human population. It wasn't until many cases of harmful reaction started appearing that anyone even mentioned the fact that covid had not been tested for side effects and that it should have been before it was used. Our MSM could have said something, but didn't, and Fauci should have said something, but didn't. The con is still going on in some states, and too many people who don't follow the news closely are still in ignorance.

The truth is you can't effectively vaccinate against respiratory viruses because they mutate too quickly. Basically the vaccine development cycle can't keep up with new variants, so all you do with vaccines is drive the evolution of ever more resistant strains, some of which could by sheer dint of numbers be more lethal, whereas the natural progression of respiratory viruses is toward less lethality, as this is a prerequisite for virus survival. Under natural conditions the more lethal strains will disappear as the hosts die before they can transmit the virus to others. This is why Ebola never becomes pandemic, because it kills too quickly to spread.

All this was pointed out by top virologists and epidemiologists right at the outset of the so-called pandemic, all of whom were studiously ignored and later disparaged if they persisted in stating the obvious facts.

Medicine is an art, not a science. There are no certainties in medicine, there are no absolute proofs and there can be no guarantees.

It was good that the government pushed people to take precautions and I believe that, because of the morbidity and degree of contagion we experienced initially, mandating people take the vaccines was appropriate. As for the shutdowns, I think that was going beyond what was necessary and reasonable.

But the government clearly oversold the efficacy and even the safety of the vaccines knowing full well they had been rushed onto the market and not adequately tested by FDA standards - and they should have been up front about that.

It's important to make a distinction here. Most MD's are practitioners. They learn established protocols regarding diagnosis and treatment, and update them as new information becomes available. I would compare their role to auto mechanics, who also use established diagnostic and treatment methods, and who likewise update their skills on the basis of new information. MDs might object to this comparison, but it's only a matter of degree, not kind. The process itself is identical and you would no more expect the average doctor to design a new therapy than you would a mechanic to design a new engine.

This is an entirely separate area from basic medical research, which aims to characterize biological processes and develop treatments for when they go astray or are challenged by external agents. The scientific method is primary here, or should be - the unfortunate truth being that only those branches of research that appear profitable get funded, while the remaining, often vital research, gets neglected.

The main obstacle here is not the scientific method, which anyone with a degree in medicine understands at a proficient level, but the interference of vested interests such as self-perpetuating bureaucracies, financial interests and political agendas. Unfortunately medical professionals are often trapped in this matrix which threatens their professional standing and right to practice medicine as they were trained to do - that is, based on sound scientific principles. This is only to say that doctors, like everyone else, are subject to human failure and perverse incentives.

i believe that Medicine is an Art based on Science.

And i base that on my experience in the military of about 9 years as a Field Medic and Emergency Room and/or Surgical Operating Room Technician.

Plus being in love with and married to an ER/OR Registered Nurse for 28 years, and having a number of very close Sailing Buddies who were practicing MDs.

wrknight's avatar

Regardless what you want to call it, there are no guarantees in medicine. It is still trial and error. Try this and see if it works. If it doesn't, we'll try something else. (The auto mechanic analogy above is quite accurate.)

But the main point is that the government oversold the vaccine, assuring people that it was safe and effective when they knew damned good and well that it had been inadequately tested and no testing whatsoever on long term effects, That was just plain irresponsible, if not criminal.

There are no "guarantees" in Anything, wr, except about one thing:

That Everything that is created and brought into existence will ultimately be destroyed, and that everything Living ~ Microbes, Plants, and Animals [including Humans] ~ that is born will die.

It's called "Entropy."

In any event, i agree completely that this Government's handling of The COVID Event was CRIMINAL, by any definition of the term. Just like this Government's handling of and reaction and response to The 9/11 Event.

And in both cases, the Criminals who made or enabled those two Events to happen ~ and who benefitted directly or indirectly from them ~ have never been held accountable for their failures. And never will be.

That is also guaranteed.

The first problem with "experts" of our time is the failure to disclose. Fauci was compromised from the start in his position funding gain-of-function research. The longer Covid persisted, the sleazier Fauci looked. "Nutrition research" has funding conflicts of interest at a massive level. Unfortunately, even university researchers get huge amounts of funding from the most dubious sponsors. Humility is needed, but no where in the equation.

RE: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

I'm no fan of his, in fact I find his position on Gaza abhorrent.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/rfk-jr-says-any-other-nation-would-level-gaza-if-attacked-like-israel-on-oct-7/

That said, I think "The Real Anthony Fauci " is vital reading for anyone in the vaccine-skeptic camp, or for that matter anyone who puts evidence based arguments ahead of ideology.

I also would recommend reading what Ron Unz has to say about that book, which may surprise some readers since fully half of RFK Jr's analysis is devoted to the HIV epidemic which reviewers and commentators on that book seem to studiously ignore.

So here it is:

Bill, with all due respect, you seem poorly informed on what actually happened, as well as on the specifics of epidemiology. Important that you read the Great Barrington Declaration that was published on Oct. 24, 2020: https://gbdeclaration.org/

The declaration omits certain facts, I believe for brevity and clarity, first of which is:

You cannot effectively vaccinate against a respiratory virus because they mutate too quickly. By the time you've developed a vaccine for one variant, that variant is no longer circulating. This was already well established by the ineffectiveness of the flu vaccines. Also basic epidemiology indicates that viruses become less lethal over time. This is intuitively obvious, since if you kill your host before you have a chance to transmit (reproduce) you won't last very long. The best host for any virus is one that survives. Even better if the host has no symptoms.

Early in 2020 several off-label drugs had already proven effective at reducing symptoms and hospitalization rates, among them Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Ivermectin (IVM) in combination with Zinc and Vitamin D3. Rather than allow doctors to prescribe these where indicated, there was an all out war to demonize both the drugs and the doctors and scientists promoting them. This was unprecedented in the history of medicine. Prescribing off-label drugs to treat novel pathogens is a widely accepted practice in medicine, one basic metric of that approach being cost vs benefit to the patient. In the case of both HCQ and IVM the risks were more than acceptable since these are two of the most widely prescribed drugs in the world and both have well established safety records. Despite this, an all out effort to limit their availability was made on the part of the medical authorities, even though conclusive observational data of their effectiveness was available from various sources, among them Uttar Pradesh India and Lima Peru. Several Central American nations also included both drugs in their protocols, and even in self-care kits issued to their citizens.

One point the declaration didn't address because they didn't exist at the time, was the intentional mischaracterization of mRNA and DNA based gene therapies as 'vaccines' which they most definitely are not. A conventional vaccine uses an attenuated version of the actual virus to elicit an immune response. The Covid 'vaccines' actually invade your body's cells and use their own replication mechanism to create a single antigen which gets expressed on that cells surface and subsequently identified by the immune system for elimination. This approach had never been successfully used before and entailed unknown risks for which the drug manufacturers were indemnified. It's also important to note that vaccines, regardless of the type, target antigens in the circulatory system. They're of no use whatsoever in dealing with initial respiratory infections, which is where you want to eliminate them.

The PCR test initially used to detect infection was never intended for that purpose and gave false positive results in many, possibly a majority of cases, thus overstating the actual infection rate. In addition to denying the above early treatment protocols, hospitals were given perverse financial incentives to use ventilation in critical cases and to prescribe a dangerous and ineffective drug Remdesiver which no doubt contributed to many of the deaths which could have been prevented.

All of this is well documented and relatively easy to research despite ongoing efforts to obscure the information and demonize anyone who dares challenge the official narrative. On the basis of these facts alone a case can be made under US RICO statutes for criminal conspiracy. It was know in advance that the vaccines were ineffective, and that alternative treatments were available. This information was actively suppressed by the medical authorities who acted on behalf of the drug companies and not the public, whose mandate it is to serve. That alone is the definition of a conspiracy, and the resulting avoidable deaths make it a criminal case.

Speaking of conspiracies, I have up to this point stayed with known facts. A variety of conspiracy theories have emerged subsequent to the declared pandemic which range from highly credible to patently absurd. That these all get lumped into a single category and dismissed on that basis is simply part of the ongoing official resistance to the evidence that's been accumulating for the past four years, among them the increased rate of heart disease, notably among younger people, and an increase in the death rate as noted by various life insurance actuaries, both of which are coincident with the introduction of the 'vaccines.'

As for my own opinions, which I believe are well-informed from both a detailed study of the event, and from listening to people more qualified than myself, they are:

Sars-Cov2 was most likely a bio-warfare agent developed by the US military and intentionally released in China using the cover of joint research being conducted in Wuhan, which allowed for the outbreak to be blamed on China. The draconian response of Chinese health authorities, far in excess of anything previously seen, suggests that they believed themselves to be under attack. It's notable that the 'vaccines' developed in the West were all gene based therapies, whereas China's vaccines were conventional. It's been suggested that China lacked the technology to produce a gene based therapy, but this is absurd since Chinese medical research is at the same level as in the West, plus they could have used any of several available Western products but chose not to.

I now doubt that there ever was a pandemic. Certainly there were a series of epidemics, possibly unrelated in terms of actual transmission, the rate of which was highly overstated as was the fatality rate. This was done to promote adoption of gene based 'vaccines' which some have suggested are part of wider agenda to reduce global population. It's not as if some powerful agencies such as the World Economic Forum and Gates Foundation aren't on record as stating this as a desirable goal - they've been banging that drum for years, using 'climate change' and resource depletion narratives as their justification. Similarly, theories on government's desire to control populations in the face of imminent economic/financial collapse and the subsequent social disorder that would entail have also been proposed and seem entirely reasonable given the draconian measures employed thus far.

I urge you to do more research on this topic. Start with the many qualified voices on Substack, which is one of the few platforms which doesn't actively suppress dissenting voices. And please, whatever else you do, stop calling us anti-vaxxers. That is a pejorative assigned to us by the people pushing the 'vaccines' and related mandates. The correct term is vaccine skeptics, and even that doesn't entirely capture our position because many of us are not opposed to vaccine technology when appropriately used. What we object to is being herded like sheep into an invasive program with little to no justification, which represents an assault on human dignity and our inherent right to bodily integrity. In short, it is not a rejection of vaccines per se, but a rejection of authoritarianism and ideologically driven agendas.

One thing is certain: I am not an epidemiologist.

ebear's avatar

Nor am I, which is why I paid attention to them right at the outset. To be clear, I came into this thing with a solid background in scientific principles and a long-standing skepticism of politicians and government dating back some 40+ years.

A lot of people were blind-sided by the pandemic and the response of the various agencies because they'd previously tended to trust them. That trust was broken, and now many are adrift because they now see the problem, at least partially, but are at a loss to know how to respond. I see a lot of anger, and a lot of clutching at straws. Unfortunately I also see people presenting them with straws to clutch at, not all of them on the opposing team, so once again, they're being misled.

It's not easy to have the rug pulled out from under you. The tendency is often to shoot the messenger because facing up to the reality of being misled for a good part of one's life is just too much to handle. Most people today are too occupied with life's challenges, finding and keeping a job, raising a family, paying down a mortgage etc. to focus much attention on anything else, so the natural response to having their existing world view challenged is denial. I've experienced this in my own family where I tried to warn them about the vaccines, and yet they went ahead and got them anyway, with the result that my mother developed cancer, which is possibly related, and my 28 year old nephew developed myocarditis, which is almost certainly vaccine related. My brother blew me off with "time will tell if you're right or wrong'." Yeah, well time has told, but he's not speaking to me anymore and I have no desire to rub his obstinate face in it, which is probably why he avoids me. Too proud to admit he was wrong.

Thank You for sharing that information and perspective, ebear.

Can You recommend any particular of the "many qualified voices on Substack" to present and explore the details of Your assertions? Also, are there any particular websites beyond Substack that You would recommend?

Thank You and have a Great day. ~ jeff

Hey Jeff, here's a few links. There are lots more, but this should be enough to get you started and you'll find others that are cross-posted on these sites. Note, I don't endorse all of their positions, but I do respect their efforts as well as the risks they take in going against the official narrative. This is a difficult subject to broach. Aside from the interference and obfuscation of the so-called authorities, the medical issues are themselves quite complex, so not everyone in the skeptic camp is on the same page. I don't claim any expertise myself other than basic scientific training which provides me at least some ability to understand the positions and data presented.

To be clear, there are two separate but related issues here. One is the effects of the virus and vaccines, the other is the source of the pandemic, which is far more controversial and harder to pin down. Most of these links deal with the first aspect.

By any measure, standard, and criterion, the response by the Governments of the United States to The COVID Event was a complete and total failure.

With just over 4.2% of the World’s Total Population, the U.S. has had: 15.9% of the World’s Total COVID Cases and 17.4% of the World’s Total COVID Deaths.

[Source: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ .]

And this has happened in the Nation that spends the most Per Capita and the highest percentage of its GDP on Health Care in the World.

So just as the most expensive Military on the Planet has not won a War in 79 years, our most expensive Health Care system and regime on the Planet completely blew its first major challenge since it successfully defeated polio, smallpox, tuberculosis, whooping cough, and other killers during the 20th century.

Instead, The COVID Event provided the politicians, bureaucrats, and appointees who run the Governments of this Nation and the World - and the people and organizations who own, operate, command, control, instruct, and script those politicians, bureaucrat, and appointees at the Local, Regional, State, National, And International levels - with the perfect opportunity to seize more political and thus economic Authority and Power, and thus even further domination and control. And thus, ultimately, more economic Wealth.

And just like with 9/11 ~ in which no politician, bureaucrat, or appointee was held accountable for the greatest FAILURE of the American Government to protect the Life, Liberty, and Property of Americans against all Enemies, Foreign and Domestic ~ not one politician, bureaucrat, or appointee has been held accountable for The COVID Failure.

Starting with Trump and Fauci.

To get a detailed overview of the Cost to the American Economy and the American Peoples of The COVID Event, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_impact_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic_in_the_United_States .

Daniel Good's avatar

In other words the failure is due to the complete lack of a heathcare system, not to the feckless government response. In other words, there would have been a failure no matter what the government did. That is the lesson we should learn, but refuse to learn because making a lot of money is what counts most in the USA.

jg moebus's avatar

There is a "healthcare system," Daniel. And one of its biggest problems is that the Federal Government is a very active participant in it.

Which means that all the Special Vested Interests in the Health Care Industry have readily available access to that Government's legal power, administrative authority, and, particularly, its capacity and capability to spend money so as to advance the agendas and profit margins of those HCI SVIs.

One very important question to ask and answer is:

Whose Responsibility is it to provide a well-functioning and effective Health Care System?

Is it the Government's? Or is it the Nation's Civil Society and Economy?

Had we a competent administration, Covid would not have been the disaster that it was.

How did Trump determine what the US Government's response to The COVID Event was?

And how did The COVID Event get handled any better when Biden took his place in the Oval Office?

Lock down was a great relief for Biden because he could avoid campaigning. Had it not been for Covid, Bernie support might have continued to grow. Although, of course, if the DNC decided he was "unelectable" there was never any way he could win. So Trump won using Bernie's talking points.

Meanwhile, in Other News... . It’s a shame Biden hasn’t been quite so forthright as Senator Graham, eh?...:

GLEEFUL GRAHAM: UKRAINE WAR ALL 'ABOUT MONEY': The South Carolina senator says Trump can get a deal to “enrich ourselves” with rare earth minerals by Stavroula Pabst / Responsible Statecraft 25 Nov 24

No, you heard it right. Last week in a Fox News appearance, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said outright that the war in Ukraine is “about money.” [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9O8h9Smpqnc ]

Namely, Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity that THE U.S. STANDS TO FINANCIALLY GAIN FROM UKRAINE’S VAST AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AND “TWO TO SEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS’ WORTH” OF RARE EARTH MINERALS ALIKE IN A PROSPECTIVE WARTIME DEAL WITH THE WAR-TORN, ALBEIT RESOURCE-WEALTHY, NATION.

“THIS WAR IS ABOUT MONEY. PEOPLE DON’T TALK MUCH ABOUT IT. BUT YOU KNOW, THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN ALL OF EUROPE FOR RARE EARTH MINERALS IS UKRAINE. TWO TO SEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS’ WORTH OF MINERALS THAT ARE RARE EARTH MINERALS, VERY RELEVANT TO THE 21ST CENTURY,” GRAHAM DECLARED. “UKRAINE’S READY TO DO A DEAL WITH US, NOT THE RUSSIANS. SO IT’S IN OUR INTEREST TO MAKE SURE THAT RUSSIA DOESN’T TAKE OVER THE PLACE.”

“[UKRAINE] IS THE BREAD BASKET OF…THE DEVELOPING WORLD,” GRAHAM MUSED. “FIFTY PERCENT OF ALL THE FOOD GOING TO AFRICA COMES FROM UKRAINE.”

Graham also emphasized that the incoming trump administration is uniquely positioned to cash out on such resources. “DONALD TRUMP IS GOING TO DO A DEAL TO GET OUR MONEY BACK, TO ENRICH OURSELVES WITH RARE EARTH MINERALS. A GOOD DEAL FOR UKRAINE AND US,” GRAHAM SAID. “And he’s going to bring peace.” ...

The article concludes:

Meanwhile, war fatalities continue to mount, with the Wall Street Journal reporting in September that OVER A MILLION PEOPLE HAVE DIED OR BEEN WOUNDED IN THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR SINCE ITS INCEPTION. TO HAWKS LIKE GRAHAM, SUCH FATALITIES SEEM TO BE AN ACCEPTABLE PRICE TO PAY IN AN APPARENT BID FOR UKRAINE’S NATURAL RESOURCES.

Agree with this assessment. One lesson is that next time, let's avoid the lock-down. Concentrate on ways to avoid crowded areas, fine, but not lock-down. Also, Fauci was a reassuring presence for almost everyone, including Trump. I believe the main objection to the vaccines was that they were not prperly tested and therefore they should not have been imposed, only recommended.

jg moebus's avatar

The really interesting thing will be to see what happens when the Next Pandemic happens, but one that kills Young and Healthy People along with Old, Sick ones like the first one did, as well.

Bill Astore's avatar

When they want to keep the truth hidden, the easiest path is to classify it.

jg moebus's avatar

That is exactly Why there are still Classified, UnReleased documents about the Kennedy Assassination in Dallas 61 years ago this past Friday, and The Terror Event of September 11, 23 years later.

Among a whole bunch of other things about which this Government has determined that the American Peoples have "No NEED to Know."

Anybody got any ideas about exactly What it is that this Government wants to keep hidden about November 22, 1963 and/or September 11, 2001?

Or is that just more "conspiracy theory" Bullshit?

Alex's avatar

Classifying documents "secret" accomplishes three things. It hides agency misdeeds from accountability. It enables the government to pound on people accused of mishandling "classified" documents. e.g. Assange, Snowden, Trump, etc. Sharing secret documents encourages people in the know (Senators, Congressmen, etc.) to feel that they are part of the "team" and therefore more likely to approve of what the agency is doing, even if it happens to be illegal or unethical. This is called "oversight" (sic).

Alex's avatar

The easiest way is to classify everything. What color did we paint the men's room? Classified!! Redacted!!

Bill Astore's avatar

If it's an Army men's room, probably shit brown. Navy: gunmetal gray. AF will probably go sky blue. The Marines don't need no stinkin' paint. :-)

Alex's avatar

One company I know of painted the inside of the men's room a bright yellow. Word was that was to encourage people to not spend so much time on the pot.

Alex's avatar

The early data from Japan's Diamond Princess cruise to Wuhan showed that Covid could be very dangerous to old people but in young people it was more like a bad case of flu. The response should have reflected those facts. Instead we had politicians and bureaucrats jumping on the scene to show how tough they were. Trump handed off the problem to Pence who handed it off to Fauci. Mistake. It's as though the people in power had pre-prepared their response and shoehorned Covid to fit. The media with their anti-Trump fear mongering hysteria made it worse of course. Politicians in mostly blue states shut businesses down and were lauded for it. Trump, in emphasizing a rapid vaccine approval from the normally slow FDA actually did pretty well. That includes Operation Warp Speed, which rapidly got the vaccine out to the millions who needed it.

jg moebus's avatar

How many business were shut down in "Red States"? Or was that just a "Blue State" phenomenon?

And if Trump and his Operation Warp Speed was such a success, why, with just over 4.2% of the World’s Total Population, has U.S. had 15.9% of the World’s Total COVID Cases and 17.4% of the World’s Total COVID Deaths?

Alex's avatar

Mostly blue states. Or blue states were more severe than red states. As for the rest, I would have to see the entire data set. I'm guessing part of the answer is that people in the US travel more (i.e. are less isolated). Plus I'm guessing reporting in some less developed countries is ... less developed.

jg moebus's avatar

Here's a listing of which States did and did not have Lockdowns/Stay-At-Home Orders:

https://ballotpedia.org/States_that_issued_lockdown_and_stay-at-home_orders_in_response_to_the_coronavirus_(COVID-19)_pandemic,_2020 .

And here's a map showing Red and Blue States in Election2020:

https://www.270towin.com/maps/2020-actual-electoral-map .

24 States went "Red" in 2020; ie, gave Trump their Electoral College Votes.

Of those 24, 7 did not issue those Orders; 17 did. And all 26 "Blue States" did issue them.

It would be interesting to calculate what percentage of the American Population was under Lockdown/S-A-H Orders.

jg moebus's avatar

Do You have any numbers to show that Blue State shutdowns were more numerous than Red State?

i'd like to see that entire data set myself.

Alex's avatar

The blue states certainly got more press for it. The NY governor even won an Emmy for his nightly broadcasts.

John R Moffett's avatar

Because the MSM (CON) won't touch it, most people probably haven't seen this:

https://www.carolinajournal.com/former-cdc-director-claims-that-covid-19-emanated-from-unc-chapel-hill/

I have been putting together an article on this with lots of background info. I am now about 99.9% sure that the US gov. was the main culprit in engineering this virus. It is why the government panicked when it got out of the lab and started spreading, and why their reactions were so drastic.

As far as the vaccine is concerned, they never should have used a modified form of gene therapy with lipid nanoparticles because those can introduce the viral mRNA into any cell type indiscriminately. When normal cells express a viral protein they are targeted for destruction by T cells. So the vaccine tags normal cells for destruction, and no other vaccine method does that.

The entire debacle was avoidable and easily preventable. They went way out of their way to do this, and we are still suffering because of it.

Alex's avatar

How bizarre. It's like the story of what was called the Spanish Flu which killed many millions and which was shown to have originated in Kansas.

John R Moffett's avatar

The "Spanish Flu" probably would not have killed nearly so many people except for the fact that WWI was raging in Europe, and many US and other troops were packed like sardines into troop ships where they spread the virus among the soldiers, who then went on to spread it to civilians in the US and Europe. So in a way, you can add that death toll to the official numbers for those killed by that war.
