Good point about war per se versus the attainment of wealth, power, and glory by other means. At this point in human history, there are no earthly territories left to conquer, so war is the surest means to attain those three things. Although Musk appears to think colonizing Mars would be a good substitute. And to some extent, perhaps professional sports sublimate some of those urges. Certainly, contact sports provide some of the atavistic satisfaction Ehrenreich describes.

Football being the most apparent never could cotton to it though seeing friends maimed for life playing in H.S. no less. The Sideline Generals being Coaches. Always admired the guile of some of the tactics (Plays) & strategy.

Overall though, a bunch of grown men killing themselves over a bag of air!!! lol Better that than literally on the battlefields. We need a new System, and we need it yesterday!
