Yes, white male privilege remains a thing in America. I submit to you the leading candidates/codgers for the 2024 presidential race, Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
Biden is a white Catholic male who will be 82 years old if reelected in 2024. He’s shown signs of age-related physical and mental decline, yet he remains the darling of the Democratic establishment. Good ol’ Uncle Joe with his Ray Ban aviator sunglasses. He’s a cool cat!
Trump is a white Protestant (?) male who will be 78 years old if reelected in 2024. He’s had five children by three wives and numerous extramarital affairs, yet he’s the darling of the “family values” Republican Party (if not of its establishment). Good ol’ Trump with his MAGA caps and his McDonald’s burgers. He’s one of us!
Which codger would you like to vote for in 2024?
Close your eyes and imagine two women, of any race, running for the presidency in 2024. One will be 82; she’s fallen on stage, occasionally looks confused, and sometimes slurs her words or repeats stage directions when she speaks. The other will be 78; she’s been married to three different men, having five kids, while conducting numerous extramarital affairs. She’s known for her locker room talk about grabbing peckers.
Now imagine these women having a ghost of a chance of being taken seriously. Of having any chance whatsoever of running for the highest office in the land.
Yet there remain people who think that white male privilege is not a thing, not anymore. Really? I submit for your consideration one Joe Biden and one Donald Trump. Let the best codger win!
(Note to reader: If I’m not a codger already, I soon will be. Long live the codgers!)
It's almost humorous that so many Americans think that they live in a "democracy" even though they never get a real choice for who their next president is going to be. In 2016 we had the "choice" of Trump or Clinton, in 2020 we had the "choice" of Trump or Biden, and now it looks like we might just get a rematch of Trump and Biden. None of these "candidates" had more than 35% popularity among the US population. Potential candidates who are more popular don't ever get a chance as they are undermined by the DNC, RNC and the corporate owned "news". Consider that almost half of the eligible voters have given up on the whole crooked mess, under the assumption that it is a rigged, fake extravaganza. But the Red and Blue Teams love it that way, since the remaining voters are tribal followers who always vote for their team, no matter who is running. America truly is exceptional, in all the wrong ways.
Good reminder that the power structure has not changed much in US history, and that these two, and quite a few others are as old and tired as their ideas.
