For what it's worth, I sent the following short note to my senators and rep:

Dear Senator/REP _____: I'm a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and historian. I've written and studied military history and know something of the horrors of war. I implore you to oppose President Biden's proposal to send more than $60 billion in (mostly) weaponry to Ukraine, another $14 billion to Israel, and many more billions to militarize our border with Mexico and to enlarge the U.S. empire's military presence in the Pacific.

As Ike famously wrote, this is no way of life at all. This is humanity hanging on a cross of iron. More weapons isn't the answer. Nor are more dead Russians and Palestinians.

We need peace, not more killing. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Lt Col. William J. Astore, USAF (Ret.)

Maybe letters to Congresspeople should be published as social media, so eligible voters in their district could "like" them on Congressional web pages. .

I'm not sure exactly how this might be accomplished without the result being just another bogus informal plebiscite, the way "likes" are typically tabulated. But there may be a way to do it effectively and accountably, and with more lasting value than the ephemerality of a street demonstration.

"Sorry, I don’t believe my “national security” is enhanced by more weapons for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, or even at America’s border with Mexico."

But Medicare for all would enhance our national security as a healthy nation is much stronger than a sick nation.

It is absolutely necessary for The Blob to ensure constant "national insecurity". Actual national security would involve lots and lots of diplomacy and compromise, lots of international cooperation and lots of mutual respect between countries. All you have to do is turn on the "news" and you will hear all about how "national security" is threatened from all sides, and that the US has no culpability in causing any of the disasters, wars, color revolutions or assassinations that have the world in turmoil. The Corporate Owned News is the linchpin in the entire "national insecurity complex". If the US were made secure by cooperative agreements with the international community, there would be no need for a trillion dollar war machine. So "national insecurity" is job security for The Blob.

Biden is just reckless. It's amazing how one human being can be so wrong about so much.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/middle-east/300994260/little-light-no-beds-not-enough-anaesthesia-a-view-from-the-nightmare-of-gazas-hospitals

"The only thing worse than the screams of a patient undergoing surgery without anaesthesia are the terror-stricken faces of those awaiting their turn, a 51-year-old surgeon says.

Dr Nidal Abed works, he treats patients wherever he can – on the floor, in the corridors, in rooms crammed with 10 patients instead of two. Without enough medical supplies, Abed makes do with whatever he can find – clothes for bandages, vinegar for antiseptic, sewing needles for surgical ones.

Abed used household vinegar from the corner store as disinfectant until the stores ran out, he said. Now, he cleans wounds with a mixture of saline and the polluted water that trickles from taps because Israel cut off the water.

A shortage of surgical supplies forced some staff to use sewing needles to stitch wounds, .... A shortage of bandages forced medics to wrap clothes around large burns, which he said can cause infections. There are not enough antibiotics, so he gives single pills rather than multiple courses to patients suffering terrible bacterial infections.

When Israel cut fuel to the territory's sole power plant two weeks ago, Gaza's rumbling generators kicked in to keep life-support equipment running in hospitals.

Authorities are desperately scrounging up diesel to keep them going. United Nations agencies are distributing their remaining stocks. Motorists are emptying their gas tanks. The lights have already switched off. At Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis this week, nurses and surgical assistants held their iPhones over the operating table, guiding the surgeons with the flashlights..."

Let's bundle Congress and deposit them into the heart of Gaza. Let them experience our bundle of munitions raining in on them.

Douglas Macgregor: A Bitter Truth | Armageddon Is So Close

This wonderful 13:41 is the Colonel summarizing the disastrous position Biden has got the US into

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YztA37iWPLE

Macgregor says Biden has essentially given us the 2001 George Bush speech all over again.

"You're either with us or against us."

Another 20-years of wasteful, stupid and counterproductive wars against the whole World. Oh dear!

Biden's speech sounded much like the prelude to war.

Heather Cox Richardson--the verbose, ultimate Biden/Blinken/DNC apologist. To read the linked post one would think Biden's trip to the Mid East and his (cliche-filled, hubristic) address to the nation were historic, unqualified successes. Global pressure, not Biden, will get whatever aid flows into Gaza and might even stop the bombs at some point--not that the US can support UN Security Council resolutions calling the a ceasefire and talks. Biden and all his comrades are good for one thing--to spend us into debt for mass destruction and evil.

I became SUCH a huge HRC fan when I discovered her “Letters To America” when I was so enmired in hatred for Drumpf (and still considered myself a Liberal)... I’ve since had to completely unfollow her as well as her history podcast due to her becoming part of the administration. Just really a complete lack of realistic analysis about the actual inner workings of the Democratic Party. Case in point, your quote above.
