The United States: not content to foment and spread violence worldwide, it must also armchair-quarterback other countries' conflicts.

If "we" win (and that appears extremely unlikely) then the world loses, because Russia will use tactical nuclear weapons before it gives up Crimea and the Donbas. At that point the world likely has only hours left.

I think the US understands this, and is not really, nor was ever, interested in a Ukrainian "victory", simply a bloodletting of Russia, and a testing out of NATO weapons and tactics. Not to mention severing Russian energy producers from their west European customers. The magnitude of this immorality is incalculable.

tests showing problems.

the f-35 already cannot keep engines and needs new ones that provide cooling as well as thrust for the huge computers and functions they keep adding!

f-35 now will be produced into the 2050!! because the f-16 is so god at not meeting combat readiness in its 40 years of age!

netherlands and denmark are getting f-35's to repalce their old f-16's given to ukraine

I was watching a Discovery channel show that said the F-16 is better in air-to-air combat than the F-35 is. It's not obvious why they don't just build more F-16s. It would be a lot cheaper. OK, you give up stealth. But is stealth enough to justify, what, twice the price?

The all singing and dancing boondoggle F-35 has NEVER been used in combat.

Like Ferrari's - too expensive to actually use Ed and Alex!

And for every flight hour it needs 2,113 Maintenance hours - Well not quite! LOL

And the AF still has not been able to debug the 16,000 lines of software code!

It's on WINDOWS®1089, version 552 now I think! LOL

The LBGTQ Model is being retrofitted for Female & Tranny pilots - don't ask!

When the pilot starts the engines Joe Biden comes on the screen and reminds the pilot of the time when Joe built paper airplanes as a child back in Delaware.

So is the US military now communicating with the Ukraine military through the pages of the New York Times? It seems that that would be inefficient at least.

THERE IS SO MUCH MONEY TO BE MADE...

WHAT COUNTRY ARE WE GOING TO BOMB NEXT if the Ukraine crisis is settled?

"If “we” win in Ukraine, it will be because of generous U.S. aid and especially vaunted U.S. and NATO weaponry; but if they (the Ukrainians) lose, it’s all their fault for not following the advice of America’s master strategists"... Painfully true (for the Ukrainians)... But whose fault it is? Ukrainians and everybody else knew it from the start and just confirmed the old Barnum say: "there is a sucker born every minute"

Whose fault is it?

How about the American Peoples'? Who have let their government get away with this Bullshit for a year and a half now.

Finger-pointing. Perhaps that's a sign that the war is mostly over.

Why would the Ukrainians want to join NATO, especially after Nato's owners in the USA have got nearly half a million Ukrainians killed? Or is that just the price for joining Lucifer's empire?

'Concentration' of force is a military principle! Validated by early operations researchers in WW II.

It must be applied considering the environment and the enemy!

Concentration does not require thrusts like Guderian and Rommel pulled crossing the Meuse and bottling the allies in northwest France. Once they got across the bridgeheads there was no one in front or to their sides!

Later in the war the allies learned to concentrate but move the front so that you advance does not become a kessel for Rommel to annihilate with his 88mm guns..... How Montgomery got the tag slow! But Eisenhower when he let Patton loose had huge air superiority as well as over weight in covering Patton's flanks.

Or the Bulge in the Ardennes in dec 1944!

Can you tell who plan for headlines?

Record Heat Waves and Wildfires, Droughts here and Deluges that Flood there, Hurricanes where they’re not supposed to be… .

Humans have been waging War on this Planet ~ its atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere, and biosphere ~ for a long, long time. And it appears that the Planet has finally gotten fed up with all the Bullshit, and is fighting back.

For a real world example of a nation that has moved beyond its “Decline” stage and well into “Fall,” look at the leading candidates to become its next Supreme Leader: Comatose Joe Biden and The Donald "Corporal Bonespurs" Trump.

For specific, merely most recent examples, see details of Biden’s trip to Maui [at https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/08/21/biden-visits-maui-wildfires-relief-efforts/70641284007/ ] and Trumps’ Debate Nite chat with Tucker Carlson [at https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/08/23/takeaways-from-trumps-interview-with-tucker-carlson/ ].

Again the question must be asked: Will America survive to celebrate its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, 1,045 days from today? And if it does, will the American People be in any condition or mood to celebrate anything?

Biden did not look well in Maui. Tired and disconnected. And he was coming off a vacation!

Trump is, of course, all about himself. Sometimes, he makes more sense than Biden. But he's a narcissist lacking the core principles that anyone in public service should have.

Biden and Trump are symbols of America's fall; more than that, they are both accelerants to that fall. If they are the "choice" America has in 2024, I agree that 2026 will be a grim birthday indeed.

Expand full comment

Before pondering what that birthday in 2026 will be like, Bill, comes a more immediate question: Will there even be an election in November 2024? And if there is, will there be an Inauguration and seating of the new Congress in January 2025?

What would it take to cancel Election2024? A second 9/11? A new Pandemic; but one that kills Young People like The COVID Event of 2020-2022 killed Old People? Major metropolitan areas turned into War Zones because of widespread food, fuel, and power shortages? A Default by the US government on its national, sovereign Debt, and the end of the Dollar as the global reserve currency, replaced by whatever BRICS comes up with?

"May You live in interesting times" is an ancient Chinese curse, not a blessing. And these next 14 months in America promise to be very interesting, indeed.

Heh. i've been living on a sailboat for 35 years next week, Bill; except for six months after Katrina.

And New Zealand was definitely on the projected Voyage [assuming we ever decided to get past French Polynesia] long before i had a friend there named Dennis. My primary interest was in checking out the Rugby they play down there.

But being only 18 or so miles away from it, living on a sailboat won't be much help when Edgecumbe blows. Especially when the accompanying Earthquake spawns a Tsunami.

MASTERS OF WAR

Come you masters of war/you that build the big guns/you build the death planes/you build all the bombs/you hide behind walls/you hide behind desks/I want you to know/I can see through your masks

Like a Judas of old/you lie and deceive/world war can be won/you want me to believe/but I see through your eyes/like I see through your brain/like I see through the water that’s running down my drain.

You fasten the triggers/for the others to fire/you sit back and watch/while the death count gets hire/you hide in your mansions/while young folks blood/flows out of their bodies and gets buried in the mud

Let me ask you one question/is your money that good/will it bring you forgiveness/do you think it could/I think you will find/when your death takes its toll/all the money you made will never buy back your soul

I hope you die/and your death will come soon/I’ll follow your casket/on a pale afternoon/I’ll watch while you’re lowered/down to your death bed/stand over your body/until I’m sure you’re dead

Recent New York Times headline: ‘Troop Deaths and Injuries in Ukraine War Near 500,000, U.S. Officials Say: Ukraine and Russia have lost a staggering number of troops as Kyiv’s counteroffensive drags on. A lack of rapid medical care has added to the toll.’
