Bill,

I was appalled by the whole disturbing spectacle. I noticed the speech was covered on every major television network and turned the television off. Later, the local news reported on it - from Zelensky in his khaki t-shirt (pure theatrics) to him handing over the "Ukrainian battle flag" to Harris and Pelosi, to mention of taking Federal land to create a "Ukrainian Freedom Park" - all accompanied by the mindless standing ovations of our elected "leaders" in Congress.

I was reminded of the quote of Senator Padme in episode 3 of Star Wars: "So this is how liberty dies..with thunderous applause".

In our case, I think our liberty died a long time ago. With the ongoing escalation toward direct conflict between the United States and Russia - death may become literal.

Unfortunately for me, my wife was watching BBC News' coverage of the visit / speeches, etc. She should know better- just hearing it from another room made me start yelling at each spoken lie.

I walked in for a moment and what struck me was not only the lies, but the happy smiles on Pelosi, et al.

If there is any doubt of our nation's 'leaders' (Dr. Cornell West often referred to this set as 'mis-leaders' and i prefer that term) love for war-making, weapons purchases and sales and their utter disdain for the actual public interests, this moment, and their recent approval of the disgustingly massive annual 'defense' appropriation (along with their inability to even extend the child tax credit) should remove that.

Yet we can't retreat into the gloom of these moments.; but rather, must keep calling the perpetrators and perpetuators of these moral failures out. If there is any history at all to be recorded, it must be known that at least some of our kind did speak out in opposition and tried to change directions in time.

these politicians, serving the military industry complex in dc, would put our children and grandchildren in the front lines of ww iii for the crooks in kiev.

I couldn't bother to watch it either knowing the MSM would replay it over and over again.

There's nothing historic about the visit. WE all know who's calling the shots in this US WAR with Russia over Ukraine in NATO. The US even sent the plane to bring him here and back.

Roosevelt, Church and Stalin, the US British Ally, met a few times during WWII.

Zelensky is an Actor, not a Churchill, no matter how many times US WAR Propaganda burnishes his image.

Tucker Carlson had a good monologue last night, comparing all the Congressional clapping for Zelenskyy with the clapping that the Soviet delegates used to do for Stalin. I read that it was considered an insult (punishable by whatever) to be the first one to stop clapping for Stalin. They used to have bowls of water for the delegates to cool their hands from all their clapping. Or so I read.

I read that Zelensky was a former ACTOR & COMEDIAN. How appropriate to govern. The JOKE is on US.

Pelosi presented Zelensky with a folded American flag, something typically reserved for the next of kin of American soldiers killed in battle. The symbolism was evident - it was as if the Ukrainian soldiers were OUR soldiers! Pelosi has a real knack for outrageous self-serving theatrics. And Congress cheered. Disgusting.

FWIW, VolodTheExtortionist was NOT pre-empted for local programming on the nearest NBC affiliate; I watched WheelOfFortune with dinner [inferences on that are one's own].

On the bright side, the English of PresidentCargoPants is getting better, which makes a proxy war with nuclear possibilities more obvious to what remains of sane America. Perhaps in another year of bleeding US taxpayers, CommanderCrazyEyes will be fluent enough to make a complete fool of himself.

Wartime Presidents make the history books. Mike Love (of The Beach Boys) once said that the history of war is the history of man. Sad but that's largely true.

'The Russian Winter Offensive'

The only way Ukrainians will see anything approximating a holiday season is if a ceasefire can be arranged by New Year’s Day, and it just might happen, regardless of President Volodomyr Zelenskiy’s repeated assertions that there will be no negotiations with Russia until it withdraws all its troops from all occupied territories, including Crimea. There are several reasons for the possible ceasefire.

First, the Russian hammer is about to fall on Ukraine. The gloves are coming off; electric energy stations, bridges, and even ‘decision centers’ such as central Kiev’s government buildings are being targeted. Russia is one or two more massive bombing attacks on Ukraine’s energy and transport infrastructure from permanently disabling Ukraine’s electricity, water, and railroad systems. With ‘only’ 50 percent of Ukrainian electricity infrastructure knocked out by the first three widespread bombings of electricity grid components, demonstrations are already breaking out in Odessa and other places over the deteriorating humanitarian situation, with Zelenskiy sending the Ukrainian KGB, the SBU, in to break up the protests and banning coverage in media. The Office of the President was reportedly recently informed by technicians that the electricity system has entered the stage of ‘arbitrary and uncontrolled imbalance,” and one official has urged Ukrainians to be prepared to leave the country in winter. What will the sociopolitical situation be like when these critical infrastructures are in complete collapse and temperatures are 20 degrees colder? Russia will be moving closer to the strategy of ‘shock and awe’, fully destroying all infrastructure – military or otherwise – as the US did in Serbia and Iraq and will likely take less care now to avoid civilian casualties.......................................................................

I know not everybody has the Time or inclination, to read as much as I suggest should be read.

I'm retired at 78 and by the Saving Graces of God of my Faith, live comfortably on my only monthly income of $1309 US Dollars, paying my rent, utilities, food for me and my 3 cats, their food inflating by 40% in the last few months, Insurance, gas and repairs for my car.

I have all the Time in This World and the Next, but still, the OT Biblical words are still True, 'Much studying is a weariness of the flesh.'

A Con Artist in Congress - 3 Takeaways from Zelensky's Speech

Speaking before a veritable rogues' gallery of the U.S. ruling class, the Ukrainian actor and president gave his best performance. His $100 billion scam is safe, for now.

“Send more weapons. Send more money” — that was the fundamental message from the Ukrainian actor and con artist who appeared before Congress on December 21 in a khaki-colored sweatshirt, speaking for about 20 minutes.

This was Vladimir Zelensky’s greatest performance yet, truly worthy of an Oscar. About $45 billion in new funding was at stake. More money for him and his gang; but more death, despair, poverty and suffering for the Ukrainian and Russian people. .................................................................

I think this article in the Council on Foreign Relations Magazine is more a work of Fiction and Fantasy than Fact.

It's more like fake War Propaganda to boost US morale and more Defence spending in Ukraine, and of course, more and bigger US Government grants to the Council on Foreign Relations.

In many parts , substituting US for Russia, it's just more projection of everything the US has already done in this World.

I take particular umbrage at this line, "It would reinforce the principle that an attack on another country cannot go unpunished."

Who can punish the US for all the attacks on only poor, 3rd World Countries since WWII?

The 2003 US invasion of Iraq is in violation of the very same International Law Russia is demonized for violating, yet Foreign Affairs Magazine can't see it in the BLIND Patriotism & delusion the US is exceptional.

No EARTHLY POWER can punish the US for it's WAR CRIMES in it's many WARS, but the September 13, 1976 Kansas City Times published these controversial words and images that Day, and it's unfolding in this Material World in our Generations,

“He came to town for the Republican National Convention and will stay until the election in November TO DO GOD'S BIDDING: To tell the World, from Kansas City, this country has been found wanting and its days are numbered [...] He gestured toward a gleaming church dome. “The gold dome is the symbol of BABYLON,” he said.” [...] He wanted to bring to the Public’s attention an “idea being put out subtly and deceptively” by the government that we have to get prepared for a War with Russia.”

That ancient Biblical BABYLON is now called IRAQ the US invaded 27 years after the Historical record.

That 1976 FUTURE is NOW with the Revelation of the details GENERALLY unfolding in the spirit of the letter.

It's a long article in Foreign Affairs Magazine, and I'm curious to know if others here have the same opinion I do?
