I have often wondered why Jews have been victimized throughout the world and throughout history. It is true, they have been victimized, but why? Could the claim "they are God's chosen people" have anything to do with their victimization? Could that claim and the fact that they set themselves apart from others be perceived as arrogance by others, and is not arrogance disliked?

Hatred of a group comes to us two ways, it seems to me: 1) Arrogance and hubris (as you point out) leads to exploitation to such a level it is only logical that the exploited group lashes out in hate; and 2) Power loves scapegoats and irrational hatred of a group is its seed. Do we not see both in action from the US/UK/EU/Israel? Hatred against us grows as our hatred spreads. Cause and effect whether "God's chosen" or not.
Like most people, I have encountered a few who disliked me but for the most part, I have found the vast majority of people very amiable and easy to get along with. But if I were to discover that many people around me disliked me or disapproved of me or my behavior, I should be inclined to look in the mirror and ask, what have I done?
I believe, perhaps wrongly, that the Catholic church in its quest for dominance set up the conditions for hatred for the Jews. 1) The church made it a dim to handle money, this left only Jews to do so, thus "they are greedy and control the world" trope 2) they killed Jesus Christ (though one could argue that that whole thing was a set up. I'm know the are other conditions the church created, but must run.
I'll be thinking of the other reasons they were set apart.
I believe that was was a major factor, but it doesn't explain persecution of the Jews in Muslim and other cultures that had no issues with money handling. There seems to be something about not being able to build bridges with other cultures.

The video Bill recommended at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5h1bO51tco is very insightful.
Gideon Levy is clearly principled. He's a good man.
I wish more Israelis would listen to him.
He deserves every respect.
wr, I post this in all YouTube┬о video comment sections...
Jesus is only a myth in a very old book of fiction my friend.
And the imaginary Christian God started all this killing and genocide in the first place.
When one party comes armed with their Bible and a 2,000-year-old promise from their IMAGINARY GOD, rational thinking goes out the window.
The issue will only be settled on the field of battle with iron and rivers of blood.
Thousands slaughtered in the name of imaginary GODs.
As it has been done since man invented GOD's.
There will be no winners.
Every religion claim's that theirs is the only true God!
What evidence do Israelis, or Palestinians, have that their religion is not just other false religion?
Why are their "Gods" real and all the others are not?
When they understand why they dismiss ALL the other possible "Gods", only then will they understand why atheists dismiss theirs.

Take care and have a great New Year my man.
