Unfortunately, microbes ("the smallest of God's creations on earth") aren't going to come to the rescue this time around. It is going to take people, and lots of them, making their voices heard by their corrupt elected officials to stop the onslaught.

John, I wish we could have our voices heard by the corrupt pols in DC - essentially meaning all of them. Democrat? Republican? What difference does it make?

I believe this will take more than weekend protests and waiting for the next election to vote the bastards out - to be replaced by people exactly like them. A general strike may be the only peaceful way out of this. I fear what lies beyond that as to what it would take to change the corrupt bribery- and war-driven system we have.

It is going to take something completely different than what people have been doing. The DC elite have always been impervious to standard "complaints" from constituents. Strikes would work better if they could be organized and implemented, but in this country there is so much smoke and mirror play that it is hard to get sufficient people on board with anything.

The American folk need to be taking some lessons from the French eh John!

Yeah, not going to hold my breath. Too many people still watch the propatainment news and have no clue. My Blue Team friends who watch the Boob Tube can't be reasoned with. They think I am Red Team because I say things like, "The Ukraine war was definitely provoked by the West". That is going down the rabbit hole according to them.

There is one solution and nothing will change unless it comes - public, not private financing of election campaigns. Until that occurs, lobbies will rule.

That was a great movie. Much better than the Tom Cruise remake. I recall in particular a scene where a pastor went forward challenging the Martians with the power of God only to be zapped immediately. Score one for atheism! George Pal made some other movies with nifty special effects which I ate up.

Yes, that's a powerful scene.

Interestingly, the movie ends with a religious message that's obviously tacked on -- the gist of it is that God created the microbes that killed the Martians, therefore He's apparently still on our side since he didn't allow all of humanity to die in the invasion.

Oh well. It was 1953 and the height of McCarthyism.

I hate those people that knock on your door and tell you how you need to be "saved" or you'll "burn" Stupid Firemen...! Seriously we needn't resort to myth to get that spine chilling thrill of being a part of something grander than ourselves. Our vast universe provides us with enough profound and beautiful truths. Tis the season peace!

Knock knock.

"Who is it?"

"It's me, Jesus. Let me in."

"Why do you want to come in?" "

“I want to save you."

"Save me from what?"

"From what I'll do to you if you don't let me in”

Theists don't want atheists telling people what to believe. Theists know that's their job and they have the exclusive right to tell people what to believe.

If people who haven't heard the gospel will not go to hell - then the MOST caring thing Christian's could do is NEVER tell anyone about it eh?

If you want to be an atheist all you have to do is read the Bible!

When’s the last time an atheist came to your door Fireman, asking you to not read the Bible? LMAO

Christianity: the belief that God sacrificed God to God to save God's creations from God. 🤔👎😥😥

Swearing on the Bible - George Carlin

George was the voice of reason. Sorely lacking these Days.

Love his quote of "Yeah sure, I'll tell as much truth as the people who wrote the fuckin Bible did"

My favourite parts of the Bible are where Jesus is talking to God (himself) and no one else is around and his conversation is quoted in the Bible.

Watching the IDF on Al Jazeera TV this morning bulldozing all the city streets. Tearing them up with their 4'-0" deep rippers! Complete and utter destruction of ALL people and property.

Keep in mind that these bulldozers were most likely a DONATION from Caterpillar®.

Dennis, watching that video reminded me of the machine adversaries in the Terminator movies - remorseless and bent on destruction for whatever is in their way. Israel has learned that bulldozers can kill as well as firearms - the family of Rachel Corrie learned that.

The remarks by the Israel Envoy to the UK make it crystal clear that their total subjugation and worse is the intention of Israel. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/israeli-envoy-absolutely-no-chance-of-a-palestinian-state/

Ray, as I'm sure you would agree, Jews are human beings just like the rest of us and in Israel many Jews are behaving badly while believing themselves righteous. Until we hold them responsible for what they do, just as we would anyone else, they will continue to misbehave as the powerful always do when unconstrained. There must be no shielding under what they believe is the protection of the holocaust which empowers them to uniquely call people antisemites without backing up the claim with evidence. Those who perished in the holocaust would, I believe, be startled to learn what is being done in their name, in short, to conflate Zionism with Judaism.

"......we (must) hold them responsible for what they do..."

".......There must be no shielding..."

Since 1945, 36-United Nations Security Council Resolutions aimed at punishing Israel for its human right abuse's or calling for Palestinian statehood have been vetoed by one of the five permanent members – the US, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France.

Out of these, 34 were vetoed by the US and two by Russia and China.

I heard the US has shielded Israel 45 times in the UN. The tail wagging the dog is now so blindingly obvious that change may come. All along the way any Israeli casualties have caused headlines in the US while the Palestinians have died in the thousands with hardly a peep. This was trumpeted to me when Israeli snipers were picking off unarmed Palestinians demonstrating at the Gaza border. It was executing people like shooting ducks in a barrel, but passed with little notice in the US. So much for the Gandhian approach to Israel.

Clif,

I read this sentence somewhere on the internet. Can't remember where now. Oldtimers!

"It's the ultimate irony that somehow the Israeli Jews have switched places with the Palestinians - turning the Palestinians into “terrorists”, murderers, animals and illegitimate people who have no rights - while the Israeli Jews are squeaky-clean God-fearing people who must commit genocide because “Israel has the right to exist”."
