A BV reader posted this classic satire video from The Onion. It’s hilariously and sadly funny.
The range of debate over the “money hole” reminds me so much of real political “debates” in America. Panel members accept that the money hole must be fed with more and more money. It’s tradition! It’s a national treasure! The debate is about whether the federal government should control the money hole, versus whether it should be privatized or turned over to the free market. Perhaps every taxpayer should have their own personal money hole.
Another debate is finding the cheapest and most efficient way to destroy the money. Professions of love for the money hole are made.
Attempts to downsize the money hole are instantly dismissed as threatening the jobs of all the hole-diggers and money-shovelers.
The clincher: If you love America, you throw money in its hole.
And that’s what we do, because each year roughly two-thirds of federal discretionary spending goes into a giant Pentagonal hole.
They left out the part where the merchants of death are at the bottom of the hole, with industrial sized vacuum cleaners.
... not having to ask for more, given even more than they request... and w/o being required to explain where it's all going, what a great scam
