At this year’s G7 summit in Italy, President Joe Biden wandered off after a parachuting demonstration, only to be wrangled back in place by the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. Here’s the video:
No knock on Biden, but it’s hard to believe we’re being told he’ll be fit to be president (if reelected) until January of 2029.
Meanwhile, Biden’s main rival has his own way of dealing with foreign leaders. Remember when Trump shoved the leader of Montenegro aside so that he, Trump, could be the center of attention during a photo op?
The symbolism is too easy here. Which version of the USA do you want represented? The one that shoves little countries around, or the one that walks aimlessly and increasingly cluelessly on the foreign stage? Do we really have a choice here?
Can I vote for someone like Prime Minister Meloni? She’s a youthful 47, obviously has a spine, and shows good instincts as a wrangler. I know: her politics are rightist, she’s a conservative Catholic, and as such I doubt I’d be simpatico to many of her beliefs. (I was raised Catholic, but I’m more sympathetic to liberation theology.) Still, I like her because she shares a surname with one of my favorite movie characters: Rodney Dangerfield’s Thornton Melon(i) from “Back to School.” A compelling reason for sure!
I know I've said this before, but with democracy allegedly hanging in the balance due to Trump, the Democratic Party asserts that soon to be 82-year-old Joe Biden is the best and most fit candidate to defeat Trump and preserve democracy.
Meanwhile, the Biden campaign message is the inspiring "finish the job," with "job" left unspecified.
It's almost as if the Democrats want to lose to Trump.
Let me Simplify:
YEAH, were Fuc*** either way.
Bernie was our last chance at MAINTAINING the ILLUSION that we have a democracy.
