Words again fail me in an attempt to describe the sheer ludicrousness of incorporating the word "woke" into official government budget discussions. How much satisfaction will we be able to absorb if the Dems in Congress stiffen their backbones enuf to say "Well, an increase of $400 billion ought to suffice"?? Yeah, that's the ticket, let's spend $1.4 trillion on "defense." We'll all feel ever so much better, won't we?!? LBJ suggested he could give us "guns AND butter." Wow, was he ever "woke," huh? The social safety net Cuba has built for its people--while simultaneously finding the will and resources to train doctors from other nations--now under relentless US assaults, in a sane world would put the USA utterly to shame. But those running the show here are incapable of feeling shame. Along with empathy, compassion and the common sense the Extremely Stable Genius occasionally spouts off about.
Got to this after waking up from a nice nap. Said to myself, “Wait a minute, this is a spoof, right?” Nope, like that line of terrifying realization from “Rosemary’s Baby,” “This is no dream, this is really happening!” Since I’m stitching together quotes here, I’ll continue. Having said, “We can’t take care of day care,” Trump would obviously be obtuse to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
Thus, as the mighty ship of state rolls over top-heavy with debt from obscene engorgement of the MIC and hull plates buckled from tax breaks for the have-mores, the next and final quote from the fearless, clueless clownery of Trump & Co., LLC will be, “And it’s no more ‘women and children and first’ now, it’s every man – and I do mean ‘man!’ – for himself, but only those of high net worth!”
Well, as I’ve said before, it was fun while it lasted – for some.
The Great American Experiment in governance almost--I say ALMOST--made it to the 250 year mark. "So you've got a republic. If you can keep it."--Dr. Benjamin Franklin.
The government prints it $$$$$ than gives it on the MIC and the oligarchs AI projects that surveillance us. The MIC than uses it killing people around the world. That's what we -the USA- has turned into....a paranoid killing machine
Perhaps there's a way to make a pile of money on Kalshi or Polymarket by betting on the odds that the majority of Democrats eventually vote for more war spending - the odds, from their public pronouncements, will be against them voting for it; the smart money should take the other side of the bet.
Hello Bill Astore.... I don't think that DJT remembers anything about Vietnam except that DJT got out of Serving in it... At this Point, DJT is Functionally Insane... I Suspect That DJT Perceives that DJT Is 'Winning', And That DJT Can Escalate Out Of This... We can throw Money at the DoD, but how Efficiently will it be used?.... The Ukrainians are doing Wonders with their Drones, and they don't have F35s... As DJT's Insanity Spirals, I Fear DJT will destroy the Armed Services like DJT has with Everything That DJT Touches. throughout DJT's Life.... Remember How The Army Was During The Last Days Of Vietnam?....
And the Extremely Stable Genius just had Crusader Pete get rid of the Army Chief of Staff?? Another "woke" general?!? [Shades of Stalin's purge trials in the 1930s?] In today's military, upper echelon officers have two choices: 1.) bow to Trump/Hegseth's every absurd whim; or 2.) get the hell out!!
According to my reading today, the Pentagon still wouldn't know what to do with all the money that's being requested, Golden Dome aside. I'm sure the profiteers could come up with some boondoggle or other, but the insanity is off the chart!
HOWEVER... There is a new power in this world: Iran. The US petrodollar is collapsing, meaning the world's savings will STOP flowing (undeservedly) into USA to fund their facade of extravagant wealth AND their military. U.S. may soon be too broke to bring the troops and equipment home from the 800 bases. Three cheers!
How I wish that was true. The US Mint will print as many dollars as necessary to continue this insanity. Those at the top of the food chain couldn't care less about the burden on future generations of ordinary folks the National Debt will impose. After all, THEY and THEIR offspring pay the lowest tax rates of all! (Their favorite rate is ZERO % of course.)
They are legally constrained from issuing money without a corresponding issuance of bonds, which they can't sell anymore. More printing devalues the dollar until nobody will take it.
And when did Trump start paying attention to what's legal?? You are correct about the way it's "supposed to work," but desperate times call for desperate measures. Some make-believe cryptocurrency could be conjured into existence to offset the output of the dollar printing press working overtime. The Greenback Dollar will lose great gobs of purchasing power in the years ahead, thanks to the profligate war spending by this and previous administrations. Yet again, and by design, it's us ordinary folks who will suffer the consequences. Think the Hyper-Inflation during the "Weimar Republic."
The Treasury can act alone, but can only mint coins. So, it just mints a US$2T coin, and takes it to the bank! No borrowing. The Federal Reserve is not a govt agency, it is a private bank run by the banksters, who impose their will. Monetary sovereignty was handed to it in 1913. If excess money is printed, say goodbye to all your imported toys, nobody wants that money to pay for imports. Money is only worth the net national productivity, which has been offshored to China. You will have to scrounge up real assets to pay Iran reparations for this STUPIDITY.
Of course this country will never pay reparations for its war damage to others, regardless of what party is in the WH or Congress. Your idea of the "two trillion dollar" coin reminded me that there was discussion not so long ago of minting a "one trillion dollar" coin. And why not? It's all make-believe "money" anyway. The only sentiment I share with some "conservatives" (like former Congressman Ron Paul) is that we need to return to the Gold Standard. Every "dollar" of currency would have to be backed by physical gold on deposit in gummint vaults. (Auditing same would be a touchy matter, of course. Nobody knows what's really in Fort Knox! Maybe just cobwebs??) But that will never happen because 1.) we're way too far down the road to national bankruptcy to turn around; 2.) Congress would no longer be able to vote preposterous sums to be wasted on "national defense"; and 3.) the political will just ain't there. So the dollar will continue to be "backed by the full faith and credit of the United States of America." Which is why the real value of a US dollar will continue to be the combo of paper and linen, plus ink, it's printed on!!
Yes, the part on govt waste and misuse is correct. However, gold-backed currency can't actually perform the functions of money, that is "metalist" monetary theory and is the problem that the new BRICS "Unit" is going to face (backed by 40% gold). You CANNOT have an expanding economic base on a fixed-supply of money. Money is simply information of a flow of value. And you cannot pay off a loan with gold or crypto, since the money being paid back needs to disappear on payment, the opposite of when it was created ex nihil when the loan was granted.
Precisely why the USA needs to be totally bitch-slapped into submission and Israel must be removed from the map so that they may never again bestow war throughout the world ever again.
Only then will future generations be able to live in peace and prosperity. GO IRAN! GO HOUTHI'S!
Look what the USA has done to the entire world? It will never ever stop until someone stops it. Forest Gump Trump - who is the embodiment of the intellectual caliber of the USA - the man is irrefutably severely learning disabled with a borderline IQ - who is also more than likely also autistic - announced today it's 'not possible' for the U.S. to pay for Medicaid, Medicare and day care: 'We’re fighting wars'.
How many millions of people has the USA killed? I think it was Larry Wilkerson who just said yesterday we have already murdered 32 million people throughout the entire world.
How many more millions of people have we displaced? How many Countries have we destroyed? Do you honestly believe all these foreigners would ever voluntarily leave their homelands that are so rich in wealth and history and move elsewhere if the USA hadn't demolished their Countries? Do you think Europe today wouldn't resemble the Middle East if it hadn't been for the USA continuing to destroy it?
More and more academics are coming forward to educate people regarding the deep history of all these Countries and who the real terrorists are. The USA continues to exploit the ignorance of this Country claiming they all want DEATH TO AMERICA! I'm an American and would gladly sacrifice/lose my own life if war were to come to this Country and meant putting an end to the death and destruction of the entire world.
They weren't happy destroying the Middle East. Look what's going on in Cuba? Forest Gump Trump threatened Greenland, and they kidnapped the President of Venezuela. Who the &%$% is the USA to control the entire world and pilfer everyone's assets? I cant wait for this all to be over once and for all and the USA to have finally learned it's lesson.
Look how and what the USA bombs Iran versus how Iran retaliates. Read the casualties in comparison. The USA has and will never have any regard for human life! That's an undeniable fact. I see people displaying the American Flag and it truly sickens me. They have no idea what it represents.
My country, land of my birth and citizenship, is undeniably guilty of every crime you cite AND THEN SOME. But the sad reality is that no force on Earth can "bitch slap" it into behaving sensibly and humanely. That is the nub of the world's sad dilemma. That's why we are all in the deepest shit we've ever been subjected to.
Hi Greg, thanks for the reply and Happy Holidays. That being said I must respectfully disagree. I think this has finally torn the barn door off it's hinges and proven to the entire world/leaders what the USA truly represents. It's undeniable. The younger generation (again throughout the entire world) also see's it was the USA that provided the bombs for Gaza.
How many times during the past several elections have we heard how the sitting POTUS has destroyed America's reputation (once again) throughout the world? That too is now irrefutable.
I personally believe not only has the USA finally isolated itself, but this was the final nail in it's coffin. We have now proven to the entire world, not only is the USA a terrorist organization, but also, only a threat to itself. Forest Gump Trump solidified the end of America. He was the icing on the cake.
Yes, of course. But my contention remains irrefutable: peoples around the world--whether their national leaders still bow and scrape before the US or not--are disgusted with this country's rogue conduct in the world, BUT there is still no force on Earth that can STOP the US's revolting conduct militarily. If a great number of other nations shut down all trade with the US, that would send a very strong message. BRICS? Nope, they can't do it. It would require much greater strength of numbers and financial clout. And would likely require general strikes within those other countries to force their leaders to act. So it's a really far-fetched idea. And that is really unfortunate.
Greg I sincerely hope you take what I say in the spirit in which it always intended as I mean no malice nor disrespect. That's what makes Substack so great. No yelling and/or insulting others. Just differing opinions . . .
I think Iran has just proven to the entire world the USA's military is a joke. IMHO it always was, as of late, I should also add. Could you possibly compare todays military to years gone by? To Vietnam, WWII and the draft? We now have a 73% obesity rate.
It wasn't bad enough Clinton turned a blind eye to gays (no offense) but than to allow the trannies to enlist solidified it's end. Forest Gump Trump is the embodiment of the intellectual caliber of the USA but Pig Hegseth is certainly the personification of the US military. Oh! My! God! And then there's Marco Rubio (versus Henry Kissinger mind you - please, shoot me now) who couldn't find his dick without a GPS.
We have crewmembers sabotaging war ships, first, the plumbing and then, setting it on fire! Between late 2024 and mid-2025, the USS Harry S. Truman lost THREE F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets in the Red Sea due to accidents, including falling overboard GREG, during heavy seas or high-tempo operations.
Wait, it gets worse, in October 2025, the USS Nimitz lost two aircraft in a 30-minute timeframe. And now you have Iran shooting them out of the sky! Perhaps they simply should've waited for them to fall of the carriers, again.
Greg you cant make this shit up!
That being said, I think the Middle East has woken up to who is actually their friend versus their foes and who will stand up for them and who actually has the superior militaries. The USA has been depleted massively and will take years to replenish while China hasn't expended anything. Now we're attacking places like Venezuela and Cuba and Greenland? Gimmie a break.
True, no force on Earth can "bitch slap" it into behaving sensibly and humanely, the "slap" will come from within, the rotten edifice will collapse in on itself. Difficult to say, but the world will be better for it, assuming it's a more or less controlled demolition, fittingly enough like those hotels and casinos in Vegas you see in those "Gee, wow!" segments in the t.v. evening news.
Actually, the incumbent POTUS is doing a splendid demolition job on the USA from within. Making the demolition of the WH East Wing all the more deliciously, ironically symbolic. If The Donald envisions ducking into the bunker planned to sit beneath the "ball room" to wait out the chaos he would create by canceling the 2028 elections, he better get those construction workers in high gear!!
