pure synergy: us space force/norad 'fixes' the target. air mobility command sends out kc 135's to pass gas to the shooters. massachusetts national guard like on lexington green sends out 2 f-15's to cover the stealthy raptors.......
a lot of co2 dispensed to release some helium.

If the ballon was just for collecting Wx data China must have known its location at all times. To not alert the US that any weather ballon they launched was off track and heading to US airspace indicates it was not just to collect atmospheric data. AND For maximum value of the ballon and cargo to the US it seems a small leak in the ballon to cause it to loose altitude slowly would have been a better option, but for public consumption of the event the explosion makes more sense.
Since we know such balloons have previously been sent, why didn't we request that the practice be stopped at that time without even bringing anything up to the public? That this didn't happen is curious as the uproar could have been made in the past if that is the intent of the administration.
The media hysteria about 'our enemies' has reached levels I suspect haven't been seen at any time other than in the middle of wars or perhaps in their immediate build-up. " Iraqi WMD" comes to mind.

Yes, Take that, China! (-: -- My analysis of the Balloon v. Blinken kerfuffle is different from any other I've seen. Please consider https://occasionaljustice.com/Arrows%20in%20the%20Wind?.

Did we really have to fire off a MISSILE that probably costs around a million dollars to shoot down a Mylar balloon?

They shot down the balloon because it was on its way to Ukraine.
The experts had just finished watching the original Star Wars.
